“I was a healthy athletic college student, but about six months ago I started having severe pain. I went to the doctor and found out I had two blood clots and a mass in my leg. The mass was so deep in my leg that I couldn’t even feel it. They did a biopsy that showed I had synovial sarcoma.
Everyone told us that Dr. Montgomery at UAMS is the best, so I came here. I had to drop out of Arkansas Tech to go through chemo, which didn’t work like we hoped it would. Then I had radiation therapy and the mass shrunk. Dr. Montgomery did surgery about two months ago and did a graft from my other leg to create a new artery, since the mass was surrounding an artery and causing the painful blood clots.
I’m in nursing school and look forward to being able to start my clinical rotations in the fall. I also recently got engaged and plan to get married after I finish school.”
