“I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in January 2012, but I never wanted to be known as a cancer patient. I refused to lose any of my identity to the cancer. During this experience, I have grown spiritually, in my relationships and in the magic of being alive.
Having cancer has given me a larger appreciation for life. Cancer is just another journey I was sent to walk. No one takes any journey alone. I got support and comfort from my husband, my family and my UAMS family. No one ever understood why I was always excited to return to UAMS, but that is because it feels like a family reunion.
Now that I’m five years from my diagnosis, I look forward to traveling, making jewelry, creating art and enjoying every day!”
