“When I was first diagnosed with multiple myeloma, I was given two years to live. That was 25 years ago. I was one of the first transplant patients at UAMS in the myeloma program and have undergone 15 years of active treatment and maintenance.
My husband and I have been married for 53 years. He is a wonderful caretaker and keeps up with all of the information from my years of treatment. I pray that anyone who needs help will be put in my path so I can help them. I would like to be able to offer them strength.
After I was diagnosed, all I wanted was to be able to see my grandchildren grow up. Now, my eldest grandchild is finishing the first year of college. My next goal is to see them get married and have children of their own. You never know what will happen. God has been by my side the whole way.”
